Insurance company financial strength ratings

A financial strength rating expresses an insurers opinion to meet its financial obligations in full and on time. In short, how likely they are to pay you out.

When shopping around for insurance, it's important to consider the insurer financial strength rating. All insurers need to have a rating, and also have a responsibility to make sure it's displayed to you before you start a policy.

In New Zealand, ratings are provided by either Standard and Poors who rate companies from A++ which is the highest rating, or AM Best Company who rate companies from AAA which is their highest rating.

At LifeDirect, we only work with insurance companies that we trust, if the financial strength of an insurer is of particular interest to you, you can sort policies by the financial strength of the insurer when you compare life insurance quotes from NZ's leading insurers online. Alternatively, you can fill out a contact form online or give us a call on 0800 800 400 to chat with our Wellington based team.
