Application FAQs
Q. What questions does the online application ask?
The online application has several main sections:
Personal Details - your contact details (e.g. address, phone) and your lifestyle (e.g. smoker / height / weight / occupation).
Insurance History - Information about other insurance you currently have and previous applications for cover.
Medical Information - Questions about your health history and medical conditions you′ve had.
Activities/Residency - Information about NZ residency status and any hazardous hobbies that you have (sky diving for example).
Payment Information - How you′d like to pay for your policy (and don′t worry - premiums are only payable once your policy is accepted by the insurer).

Q. What information do I need?
To complete your application quickly and accurately, it can help to have the following information handy:
- Your GP/Medical practice contact details
- Information regarding any past or ongoing medical conditions
- Bank account or credit card details
If you are unable to complete any part of the application don′t worry - you can save it and return later.

Q. How long does it take?
A likely time range is 10-25 minutes (maybe longer for a joint application). Mostly it depends on your health - because if you have experienced certain health issues you′ll have additional questions to complete.

Q. How am I kept updated?
Once you′ve submitted your application we will keep you fully up-to-date on its progress. You′ll receive email updates every step of the way - from the time we receive your signed documents to when your application has been accepted. And if your insurer requests further information we′ll let you know immediately as well.

Q. Will I need medical tests?
Usually your insurer won′t require medical or blood tests. However these can be needed in two situations. First, if you have experienced certain health issues, or have a height/weight ratio outside of the insurers “usual” guidelines, they might ask that you take a blood test or have a quick medical check. This is totally free to you - the insurer will pay (the exception can be if you are not a NZ resident, in this case the insurer might require you to pay). Second, for life insurance, if the amount of cover that you have applied for is higher than the limits outlined below, your insurer might require a blood test or medical check. Again, the costs of any tests are met by the insurer.
